The only witness to the event, the daughter, has clearly stated that it was not Michael Stone who confronted the family, this by implication from her failure to point him out in an identity parade. If you argue that her memory was impaired by the assault, then you also have to rule out her evidence that suggested that the motive was robbery.
Then again you need to question whether or not Michael Stone even exists

i have always thought stone was gulity - but the conviction is scary - he lies on the floor of a prison cell and confesses known facts to a scumbag he doesnt know - THAT is the only evidence - with new techniques is there no trace of dna on the towels ??

I have more, previously undisclosed evidence that makes a connection between Levi Bellfield and the Cilenden murders. I am in the process of documenting how I now believe that ALL of the murders attributed to Bellfield and Stone may be the work of a modern day Jack The Ripper. Michael Stone will get his freedom if the CCRB does its job and deals with my information in a seriously ethical manner

Alfie makes a very good point at his comment on 1.7.2010. The reporting in the media was shocking. I was in the court room during the first trial. A witness, a friend of Stone's, said he saw him covered in blood later that day. That witness did not come across as at all credible. He was followed by his girlfriend. (Sheryl? I can't recall.) In evidence she said she was with her boyfriend at the time in question and Stone was not covered in blood. She was a very good witness. I was stunned at how that evening's news reported on his friend saying he was covered in blood but there was no mention of his girlfriend - the seemingly more reliable witness - saying the opposite. For two years after that, I never read another newspaper and I know Derek Hayward stopped reading them for the same reason.
